After BDA stopped the construction, KTCDA wrote to BDA and BBMP urging the authorities to take strict action to prevent any unauthorised construction near the White Rose Layout. Residents raised the issue last year with the tank authority stating illegal construction and road within Pattandur Agrahara Lake’s buffer zone.

Officials from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) office visited the alleged spot of illegal layout on January 11, 2023. The team visited Pattandur Agrahara Village, Whitefield took note of the construction work and put a temporary halt to it.

However, residents say that while the illegal building demolition enforcement action by BBMP at White Rose Layout is in progress, some developers have launched another illegal layout on an adjacent property, with access through White Rose Layout itself.

Strangely, the BBMP has a ready police force on standby but it never uses it to police, and allows lawlessness to thrive across the city. The Lokayukta or the High Court can also launch a suo moto investigation into the matter to find a fix

As part of its crackdown, BBMP identified 70 buildings in the layout and demanded that the owners submit their approved plans. Of the 30 plans received, 26 were found to be in violation, encompassing unauthorised additional floors and failure to adhere to setbacks.
