Prosecutors in the sentencing hearing Friday for the former Waco woman convicted in the 2016 hit-and-run death of a Baylor cyclist presented evidence that she continued to drink and drive

A former Midway school administrator was convicted Thursday of manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid in the 2016 hit-and-run death of a Baylor University sophomore.

The roommate of a Waco murder suspect testified Wednesday that he told her the day of the 2020 shooting that he had killed someone.

A Waco man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday after a jury convicted him of aggravated assault of his girlfriend.

Gilberto Zapata Ortiz, 59, was sentenced in the Jan. 25, 2004 strangulation death of Pamela Moore, 40, of Waco, by Waco’s 19th State District Court.

A former teacher at Lorena Primary School who sexually abused two pre-K students in his classroom in 2021 was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The defendant denied the allegations, and told jurors the girl is lying.

The girl, who was eight at the time of the alleged offenses, is expected to testify Wednesday morning.

The punishment phase of the trial will begin Friday morning.

Jones, 32, is on trial for murder for a second time in Waco’s 19th State District Court for the murder of Sherrell Carter.
