let me ask you about hope hicks through your prism. i mentioned about the hearing that took place in front of the house intelligence committee with hope hicks. there s been reporting that legal builds mound. she is the subject of focus. what s your sense of interest in her at this point. first of all, we should go back. she has done a very good job of staying under the radar. that was blown away by the rob porter accusations. she was dating rob. then she admitted she was shotoe lies to the president. and extremely hard on the president because she has been a stabilizing force. in this game of white house reality tv. what is it, survivor, the apprentice, she was an unfortunate figure to go. will john kelly stay or go because of the profile she s kept we don t know much about the role behind the scenes that hope hicks plays.
clip of the mayor in texas. can the united states still meet the goals of the paris climate agreement without the federal government leading the way, john? absolutely. you know, in this film, i think audiences will be surprised. you re meeting a post-political al gore. he s not involved in politics anymore and climate change is becoming a nonpolitical issue in our country. most americans agree something should be done about climate change and we have the solution, so, yes, that s exactly what happened after trump made this paris announcement. you saw mayors, you know, ceos of companies, governors, the governor of california, the governor of hawaii and many other states have stepped up and said wait a minute, we disagree with our federal government on this issue. we want to stay in the paris accord because it helps our economy and helps, by the way, save the future of human civilization on planet earth. is there something al gore could have said differently that donald trump could h
tightening security at airports after arresting four men suspected in a plot to bomb an airliner. prime minister malcolm turnbull said the plan appeared to be an elaborate conspiracy, rather than a lone wolf operation. now to the white house, where they are not giving in on repealing and replacing obamacare. budget director mick mulvaney said today the senate shouldn t vote on any other bill until it votes again on a repeal. president trump tweeted this morning, don t give up, republican senators, the world is watching. repeal and replace. the president has repeatedly threatened to let obamacare implode, in his words. today health and human services secretary tom price said the administration would not allow that to happen on nbc s meet the press. here s what he told chuck. yeah. no, our job is to follow the law of the land. and we take that mission very, very seriously.
little bit. how concerned are you about the president? actually what i was talking about is the president s budget. if you go earlier in that tape, i talk about the fact that omb went through the budget and appeared to zero out many really vital programs without doing a careful analysis of the impact on communities, on vulnerable citizens, on veterans, on people across the united states. so when i said i m worried, that s what i was referring to. i was referring to the president s budget, and i am worried about the president s budget. as omb has put it forth, i think there are a lot of problems in it. and finally, there s been some speculation that the president may ask attorney general jeff sessions to replace john kelly as secretary of homeland security, but that would essentially be throwing
achieved. the ideas that he s brought to the presidency have been something he s talked about for a long time. what we need now from a chief of staff is ensuring that everybody who works on the white house is on the president s agenda. what i would guess moving forward is that general kelly will bring the type of discipline to the staff, to ensure that the leaks are stopped and that the president s agenda is foremost of what takes place in that building. so there will be no more back biting, no more stabbing each other in the back. what anthony scaramucci has said is that he s the type of person who if he wants to stab, he ll stab you in the front. what i think general kelly wants to bring is the opportunity to make sure that everybody on the staff is working for the good of the president and not their own agenda. last quick question, is there one thing that john kelly should avoid doing as president trump s chief of staff? absolutely. the thing that general kelly should do is not
