The owners of Lombards Egg House are hatching a plan to turn a shuttered storefront into a new restaurant in the villages downtown.

If all goes as planned, shoppers at Yorktown Center could see new apartments under construction on the mall property starting next year.

Lombard trustees are expected to vote later this month on a zoning request that would pave the way for a developer to tear down the former Carsons department store at Yorktown Center and build hundreds of apartments.
