New study: deep sea sensor reveals that coral
<p>A team of scientists, led by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, measured superoxide in water surrounding corals with a sensor called SOLARIS, on board the&nbsp;<em>Alvin</em>&nbsp;submersible.&nbsp;&nbsp;The study reveals, for the first time, that deep-sea corals and sponges produce the ROS superoxide, demonstrating that it&rsquo;s likely a fundamental part of its functioning.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
