Ami McLennan, 45, from Lancaster, launched legal action in February after her son William Verden, who has a rare kidney condition, was refused a transplant because of his learning difficulties.

A teenager with disabilities should be allowed to seek a kidney transplant, a court has ruled.

Last week, the Court of Protection ruled that the kidney transplant should go ahead - despite doctors from Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital arguing it was not in Williams best interests.
