The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) published on Wednesday evening the names of the companies it selected, following a call for tenders, to operate three gas blocks in Lake Kivu, in the east of the country.

The gas block auction was part of a licensing round that included 27 onshore oil blocks.

DRC has awarded three licences for natural gas blocks in Lake Kivu, reported Reuters, citing the country’s Hydrocarbons Ministry.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has received bids from nine qualifying companies for three gas blocks on Lake Kivu which it put up for auction on July 28, the hydrocarbons ministry said on Wednesday.
