Jacob Cao Jacob Cao is the son of Brenda Cao. Jacob's high school activities included Jazz Band (9-12); Key Club (10-12); Marching Band (9); Winter Percussion (9); Lacrosse (9-12); Swim Team (12); Environmental Club (10-12); Nation Honor Society (11 & 12); Math Team (11); Science Bowl (11 & 12); Ocean Bowl (11 & 12). Other activities included FIRST Robotics; Skills USA; Cutis Lake soup kitchen volunteer; Sanford Mainers volunteer; Holy Family Church altar server; Holy Family Church food pantry volunteer. Jacob was accepted to the University of Maine; University of New Hampshire; University of New Haven and the Maine Maritime Academy. He plans to major in mechanical engineering technology and plans to attend the University of Maine, in Orono, Maine.

BLACKSTONE – A turbulent senior year has ended in success for Blackstone-Millville Regional High School’s top students, who will lead their class during graduation ceremonies in June. Natalie Hawkins and Gabriele Martinelli have been named the valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2021. Both students are members of the National Honor Society who invested their time during high school in AP classes, extracurricular activities and band. Hawkins, the daughter of Lauren Hawkins of Milford, Mass., and Daniel Hawkins of Blackstone, is an aspiring artist who plans to attend the Rhode Island School of Design in the fall. She told The Breeze she enjoys drawing portraits and storyboard characters and hopes to pursue illustration. Last spring, she created a picture honoring health care workers that was sent to employees at Mass General Hospital.

Dekalb Winter Percussion performers place second

FORT WAYNE — DeKalb Winter Percussion placed second in a competition at Carroll High School over the weekend. The Winter Percussion unit’s next show will be this coming weekend at Franklin Community High School with a performance time of 4:01 p.m. In-person tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children with two tickets allowed per member. Access to a livestream will be available at franklinbands.anywhereseat.com. The livestream ticket price is $10, with a $1.25 credit card processing fee. The livestream will be available for the entire day. Following last weekend’s show, DeKalb drumline section leader Parker Morton said “I am very excited to see where this show is going to go in the coming weeks. We are getting closer and closer to the top spots every week we go out. Also extremely proud of the group and the effort everyone is putting in to make this year happen.”
