Connecticut lost 6% of energy jobs in 2020 compared to the national decrease of 9%, according to a state report.

(The Center Square) – Although Connecticut will add 60,000 jobs this year, the state wont be back to pre-pandemic levels of employment until 2023, industry groups say.

The state is investing $70 million into job training for various growth sectors.

Connecticut is dedicating about $62 million of its federal COVID-19 relief funds to train and ultimately place 8,000 workers in healthcare, information technology, manufacturing and other industries.

The state Bond Commission on Tuesday is scheduled to vote on  $124 million in economic development funding that will support major apartment developments in Hartford and replenish a small business lending pool. In a national first, Connecticut will offer the Google Career Certificates tech-training program at all state colleges, universities, community colleges and career and technical high schools. Infosys has already pledged to hire 250 program graduates at its Hartford location, according to a statement. The courses are being offered as a result of a deal with Google, the Connecticut Office of Workforce Strategy and the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system.
