The police arrested a 76-year-old man for trying to hit Mayor Boy Scholtze of Drimmelen in Noord-Brabant with his car on Monday morning as he walked from the town hall to his car. Municipalities want to cut financial support to many Ukrainian refugees

The Security Council, the council of mayors that chair the Netherlands' 25 security regions, wants to cut financial support for Ukrainian refugees. โ€œWe are reaching the limits, and the end of the war is not in sight,โ€ said Wouter Kolff, chairman of the Security Council and mayor of Dordrecht. Municipalities defy Cabinet: Will keep third-country nationals in refugee shelters

Third-country nationals from Ukraine will not have to leave shelters in several Dutch municipalities for the time being. According to a survey by ANP that included around 300 municipalities, cities like Eindhoven, Groningen, Arnhem, Ede, Deventer, and Roermond have announced that they will not turn these refugees out onto the streets as of Monday.

Cabinet not allowed to end protection for three third-country nationals from Ukraine

The District Court of The Hague ruled against the outgoing Cabinet on Wednesday, saying the Netherlands cannot arbitrarily end the temporary protection of three third-country nationals from Ukraine starting on September 4. The ruling is the result of separate lawsuits filed by two third-country nationals of Indian citizenship and one of Moroccan citizenship.
