The Lincoln Blue Tiger women’s basketball team fell short of upsetting the ninth-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers, losing 76-65 on Thursday night at Jason Gym. The Blue Tigers used a 6-0 run in the first quarter to take its only lead of the game at 13-11 before the Tigers responded by scoring the final nine points of the first quarter to take a 20-13 lead into the second quarter.

The 3s fell early for the Ichabods. Washburn connected on 55 percent (5-of-9) of its 3-point attempts in the first half to build to a 77-61 MIAA win Thursday night against the Lincoln Blue Tigers at Jason Gym.

The Lincoln men’s and women’s basketball teams begin their weekend road trip tonight with an MIAA doubleheader against the Rogers State Hillcats. The women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 7:30 p.m.

It had been two weeks since the Blue Tigers had lost to Emporia State 76-69 due to a COVID-19 breakout within the program that cancelled their next two games, followed by Newman being unable to travel to Jefferson City due to COVID-19 concerns Thursday.
