Rangers investigate Young County jail death

The Texas Rangers were investigating two deaths last week in Young County, the Department of Public Safety said in a statement. The Rangers and Olney Police were investigating the death of an 8-month-old infant who died at the Over Yonder RV Park in Olney. JACKSBORO - Young and Jack County community leaders met in Jacksboro on March 29 to fine-tune a plan to plug gaps in the state’s mental health services for rural residents and discuss strategies for funding those urgently needed services with grants or by finding room in tight local budgets if promised help from the Legislature does not materialize.

Olney police bust 3 for drugs, burglary

A complaint about a neighbor stealing water turned into drug and burglary arrests for an Olney man and two women, Olney police reports show. On March 16, Olney Police Detective Dustin Hudson was dispatched to 1007 W. Payne to investigate a call about water theft and discovered a water hose leading from the house into the backyard of 1005 W Payne, according to a police report.

OPD seizes 26 starving dogs from Payne Street house; 2 arrested

Olney police removed 26 dogs from a urine-and-feces-infested home on Payne Street on Friday and arrested wo people in connection with the massive animal cruelty case that sprang from a health-and-safety inspection, Chief Dan Birbeck said.

Abuse, neglect of surrendered dog leads to arrests

6:24 p.m. UPDATE: Two Young County men turned themselves in Thursday evening at the Young County Jail on warrants for charges of cruelty to non-livestock animals. Jeffery Logan and Zackery Anderson turned themselves in at the Young County Sheriff’s Office after investigators obtained warrants for their arrest Thursday, March 23. Both were charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals, a Class A misdemeanor, in relation to the abuse and neglect of Niko.
