Fairfield City Council Meeting The Fairfield City Council will meet in regular session tonight at 6 pm in City Hall. In routine business the council is set to discuss the Repealing of the Ordinance Changing Set Back Requirements. The council will also discuss ordinances Regulating the Construction, Placement & Maintenance of Fences; Allowing the Sale of Municipal Personal Property; Permitting Portable Cargo Container Use; and Increasing Building & Construction Permit Fees. FNB in Fairfield will have limited lobby access on Tuesday, August 16 and Wednesday, August 17 due to installation of a new HVAC system. The west parking lot will be closed both days, but drive-thru traffic will exit on the north side of the west lot. Customers wishing to enter the bank should park near and enter the north or east doors. In addition, the bank lobby will be closed from approximately 11:30am until 1pm on Tuesday, 8/16 during the removal of the old system. It is anticipated the lobby will be closed for another hour on Wednesday, 8/17 for installation of the new equipment. Customers can access services by using the bank's drive-thru during this time. On 08/12/22, at 1:44 AM, Fairfield Police responded to 112 Highland Avenue, Fairfield on a Domestic Battery complaint. The investigation resulted in Jason R Pfaff, 39 of Fairfield, being arrested for battering his wife Misty L Paff, 44 of Fairfield. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and lodged pending a bond hearing on a charge of Domestic Battery. Misty refused medical treatment. On 08/12/22, at 12:25 AM, Fairfield Police discovered an unresponsive male in a vehicle on the Methodist Church parking lot at 100 W Main Street, Fairfield. The investigation identified the driver as Hunter W White, 22 of Bluford, IL. After indications of possible impairment, White submitted to Field Sobriety Exercises and was determined to be under the influence. He was placed under arrest for being in physical control of a vehicle while Under the Influence (DUI) and transported to the Wayne County Jail where he provided a breath sample that indicated a Blood Alcohol of .091. The Wayne County Sheriff's Department has released details on the June 13th arrest of 45-year-old Jack J. Myers. Deputies responded to a report of a man firing a handgun out the back door of a rural Fairfield residence, and Myers was questioned after police observed a possible weapon on his waistline. Police received consent to search his residence and found three firearms, suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and plastic baggies. Myers was taken to the Wayne County Jail on preliminary charges of armed violence, unlawful possession with intent to deliver meth, and unlawful possession of a firearm. 22-year-old Fairfield resident Alyssa M. Collins was booked in the Wayne County Jail yesterday. She was wanted on a Wayne County failure to appear warrant for possession of meth, and Collins was held in the jail, pending the posting of $345 bond. 35-year-old Farina resident John T. Wayne County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow says there will be six contested races in the upcoming June primary election, all on the Republican side. She held a lottery yesterday morning to determine their placement on the ballot; in order, Crystal Ellis and Yvette Anderson have filed for Treasurer; Andy Glover and Randy Hedrick for District 2 on the County Board; Roy Estheimer, Eddie Barbre, and Brandon Bittles for District 3; Joshua Isle, Matt Shreve, and Jeremy Witter for District 5; Bill Bruce and Vern Hutson for District 6; and Gene Kollak, Steven Troyer, and Shane Neuman in District 7. Estheimer, Hutson, Kollak, and Neuman are incumbents. The primary election this year will be June 28th. Residents will be able to seek vote-by-mail ballots between March 30th and June 23rd, and in-person early voting will begin May 19th.
