SHASTA LAKE, Calif. – Crews are dealing with a new fire that started just north of Shasta Lake.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Salt Fire was seen burning in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest east of Interstate 5 near the Salt Creek exit.
Evacuations were ordered for Zola Drive, Cordes Court, and Solus Campground Road. Tom Head and Old Mill Road were later added to that list. People on Gregory Creek Road were advised to shelter in place or go to Gregory Creek Beach.

Crews are battling a vegetation fire that broke out Wednesday north of Redding.
The Salt Fire is burning east of Interstate 5 near the Salt Creek exit in the Lakehead area. The first call about the fire was reported at 1:41 p.m. It prompted road closures and the evacuation of residents who live in the area.
An evacuation center has been set up at Central Valley High School.

A wildfire burning north of Redding prompted evacuations in Shasta County on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The blaze, dubbed the Salt Fire, is burning off Gilman Road and Coal Creek Road, north of Shasta Lake City in Shasta County, Cal Fire said. It was burning east of Interstate 5 near the Salt Creek exit and was roughly 200 acres shortly after 5:30 p.m., Caltrans officials said.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The Salt Fire is burning north of Redding and has caused evacuations, according to the Shasta County Sheriff s Office.
The Shasta-Trinity National Forest Service said the fire is more than 200 acres.

Evacuations and Road Closures
Evacuations are orders for Zola Drive, Cordes Court and Solus Campground Road.
Deputies have also sent evacuation orders for Tom Head Road and Old Mill Road.
