FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. Multiple Triad healthcare companies are bracing for the possibility of COVID-19 vaccine shipment delays amid warnings of a second ice event this week.
Saturday s ice storm was among the worst the Triad has seen in half a decade, WFMY meteorologists said. More than 160,000 people were without power. COVID-19 vaccine operations were interrupted across the area by the severe weather.
The likelihood of a winter cold snap Wednesday night into Thursday has Forsyth County’s three main providers of COVID-19 vaccine warning of potential inoculation delays later this week,
Weather conditions around the country are delaying the delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations to the Triad. Some local vaccine providers have also cancelled Thursday vaccination appointments due to forecasted winter weather. The Forsyth County Department of Public Health, Wake Forest Baptist Health, and Novant Health are all making contingency plans for delayed vaccine shipments.
