Re-elected Fiji Teachers Union (FTU) general secretary Agni Deo Singh is calling on teachers to join the union and enjoy the benefits offered by the union.
He said more than 4000 teachers in Fiji were not part of any union.
“In the country we have around 13,500 teachers out of which around 5000 are our members and our sister union has a little less members than us,” he said.

The Fiji Teachers Union (FTU) elections is currently underway into the final day at the 22 polling venues around Fiji.
Speaking to The Fiji Times yesterday, FTU former industrial relations officer Arun Prasad, who is vying for the position of the general secretary, challenging general secretary Agni Deo Singh said he was ‘extremely’ confident that he would secure the position.
“I am extremely confident that I am going to win the position that the members have realised now that they need a change in the Union for the betterment of them and of all the teachers who are coming to join later on,” he said.
