FITCHBURG Members of the Laurelwood Garden Club, in partnership with the Fitchburg Art Museum, will be showing their floral designs at the 23rd Art in Bloom, to be held Friday, May 14 through Sunday, May 16.
Artworks from the museum’s collection, Eleanor Norcross Gallery and the African Gallery, and artwork in the current exhibits, The Big Picture and Cloth is Money, will be selected by interpreters to design unique arrangements so the viewers can focus on the way the artwork was interpreted. This year, it will include Tablescapes set up in the Ansin Gallery and the Eleanor Norcross Gallery.
Fitchburg has both.
And the revitalizing power of each is enhanced by the growing collaboration between Fitchburg Art Museum and Fitchburg State University.
The two institutions began collaborating six years ago.
On Thursday, FAM Director Nick Capasso and Fitchburg State University President Richard S. Lapidus signed a memorandum of agreement that further strengthened the partnership between the city institutions.
The pact solidifies FAM as the de facto art museum for Fitchburg State, with free admission for all university students, faculty and staff. FAM will participate in class and curriculum planning for a variety of university disciplines and will offer high-quality internship opportunities.
Long Live the Queens!
The hottest ticket in town? Right now, it s for the 2nd night of the two-night engagement for Ladies For the Night, featuring four extraordinary local drag performers: the smart-mouthed, quick-witted Lady Sabrina; the dancing queen, Boots; the comedy stylings of Edwina Typhoon; and acclaimed “RuPaul s Drag Race” competitor and recent WoMag cover model Joslyn Fox. That s a fun combination by any standard, but right now, excitement for this show is so high that the first night has sold out, and heck, maybe by the time we ve published this, they ll have added a third.
