A man hit by a vehicle suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after crossing a street without allegedly checking for traffic first in the Town of Fairfield, police said.
The incident took place around 12:39 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13, on Reef Road in Fairfield.
According to Granata, a Fairfield Police Officer was advised by a passerby that a person had just been struck by a vehicle on Reef Road just north of Veteran’s Park.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Michael Smith, 25, of Fairfield, lying on the ground in front of 783 Reef Road and was suffering from several injuries, Granata said.

FAIRFIELD Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Sunday afternoon, officials say.
Fairfield police Lt. Antonio Granata said the accident occured just after 12:30 p.m. in the area of Veteran’s Park. He said an officer was notified by a passerby that a person had been hit on Reef Road.
“When police arrived on scene, they found the male lying on the ground in front of 783 Reef Road and was suffering from several injuries,” Granata said.
