PORTLAND, Ore. COVID-19 has claimed 21 more lives in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 1,403, the Oregon Health Authority reported at 12:01 a.m. today.

OHA is providing daily updates on administered doses of COVID-19 vaccines in Oregon on its vaccination data dashboard.
Yesterday, 2,449 doses of vaccine were administered, raising the state’s total number of first vaccine doses to 10,407. All vaccinations occurred at Oregon hospitals and long-term care facilities.
The dashboard provides weekday updates on the number of people vaccinated, both by state and by county, along with key demographic information showing the race, ethnicity, sex and age of everyone who has been vaccinated.

The Oregon Health Authority on Wednesday reported 1,000 new confirmed or presumptive coronavirus cases and 21 more deaths.
Gov. Kate Brown, meanwhile, announced what is a landmark change in the course of Oregon’s response to the pandemic: Starting Jan. 1, schools and their districts will be able to decide if and when they want to reopen.
“As we move into a new year, we must all rise to the challenges that COVID-19 presents and prioritizing our children is most urgent,” Brown said.
Districts and schools will no longer be tied to coronavirus metrics set by the state that until now have dictated which schools can allow in-person teaching. PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon has now had more than 100,000 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in late February.
Oregon Health Authority reported 1,390 new confirmed and presumptive cases on Friday, bringing the total to 100,308.
“While this significant number reflects how widely the novel coronavirus has spread within our communities, I want to acknowledge every Oregonian who has been affected by this pandemic and thank the vast majority of Oregonians who’ve taken steps to protect their families, their neighbors, and the most vulnerable members of our communities,” said OHA public health director Rachael Banks.
