Earthquake of 6.4 magnitude strikes Assam today; No injuries, casualties reported © Provided by Zee Business Earthquake in Assam today: An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 Richter scale was struck in Assam, on Wednesday early morning at around 7:51 am, the National Center for Seismology said.  People felt strong tremors in the different pockets of the northeast region including north Bengal. Though there weren’t any reports of anyone being hurt or casualty, photos have started doing rounds on social media regarding broken walls, windows, and walls developing cracks.   Similarly, strong tremors were also felt repeatedly in several parts of the northeast and neighbouring country, Bhutan, forcing people to run out of their homes, Reuters reported.

She was undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital, Guwahati. Das was Assam s Additional Chief Secretary and she was the daughter of former Assam Minister Ramnath Das. On April 21, legendary Bihu singer Bhitali Das passed away due to COVID-19. As Kamrup (M) tops the chart with 6,026 active cases while Kamrup (R) shares the second spot with 1,032 cases, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 14 deaths have been recorded as of April 25 and Kamrup Metropolitan with Guwahati as its leading city registered 815 number of COVID cases. The positivity rate stands at 3.24%.

Listing out the availability of beds in government hospitals across Guwahati, the minister said, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has 420 beds with 92 ICU beds, Kalapahar Govt Hospital – 38 ICU Beds, Mahindra Mohan Choudhary Hospital (MMCH) – 24 ICU beds.
