Cleaning Accra: I Won t Be Perturbed - Regional Minister Reacts To John Boadu s Comment | Politics

  The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has subtly reacted to comments reportedly made by the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu. The Minister who is determined to make a difference in his region has already indicated that he s aware his quest to bring change will be met with some form of resistance. However  once I have the President s backing, I am good to go , he has said. “This is a charge I promise to keep and execute to the fullest but I cannot do this alone considering the nature of the task. My colleagues are not going to be happy with me but boy! I m going to do it; once I have the backing of the President I m good, he added.

Respond to warning signals - RCCs urged

705 The Chief of Staff, Mrs. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, has charged regional coordinating councils (RCCs) to respond promptly to early warning signals and other issues that have the potential to undermine peace and security in their respective regions. She mentioned chieftaincy and land disputes, illegal mining, armed robbery, invasion of farms by herdsmen and the influx of questionable foreigners as some of the issues of national interest that needed prompt action. It is expected that regional security coordinating committees (RSCCs) will pursue such matters with urgency to ensure sustained peace, a key ingredient in the march towards the accelerated development of the country, she added.

Establish Effective Relations With Local Authorities - Chief Of Staff

  Madam Akosua Frema-Opare, the Chief of Staff has advised Regional Ministers and Regional Chief Directors to establish and maintain strong and peaceful relations with Chiefs, Opinion and Religious leaders in their various jurisdictions. She said the peaceful co-existence between government representatives, administrators and traditional authorities in the regions were the easiest way to facilitate development in the areas. Madam Frema- Opare gave the advice at the maiden conference of Regional Ministers, Regional Chief and Coordinating Directors and Deans of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs from the various regions. The two-day conference, which is on the theme: Deepening Decentralisation and Local Governance for Accelerated Development in Ghana: The Role of Key Stakeholders. is to take the participants through Ghana s Decentralisation policy document and how to achieve the document targeted goals.
