Transit advocates praise choice of rider Roberta Duarte as Greater Cleveland RTA trustee Courtney Astolfi, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio Cuyahoga County Council on Tuesday confirmed County Executive Armond Budish’s pick of Roberta Duarte as a board member for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, a choice that drew a thumbs-up from transit advocates who want more rider representation on the board. Duarte, a program manager at JumpStart Inc., will fill the vacancy left by Justin Bibb, whose term expired earlier this year amid his bid for Cleveland mayor. She was one of four trustee candidates recommended to Budish by advocacy group Clevelanders for Public Transit because she is a frequent RTA rider.

This week, the county s HR and appointments committee officially confirmed Roberta Duarte, downtown resident and project manager at JumpStart, as the RTA s newest board member. She replaces outgoing member Justin Bibb, currently a candidate for Cleveland Mayor. Duarte, a native of Paraguay, serves as the Vice President of Cleveland s Young Latino network. She has described herself as an avid user of public transit.
