Collapsed contractor Forrest officially dissolved

A petition to formally dissolve collapsed contractor Forrest as a company has been lodged with the High Court. The firm, which collapsed into administration in December 2018 with the loss of 230 jobs, has been formally struck off after the winding-up process – undertaken by Forrest creditor Wolffkran – was concluded.  A notice of the company’s dissolution was published in The Gazette, the official public record.  Forrest was formed in 1955 when a carpenter named Herbert T Forrest founded a company to supply social housing in Preston, Lancashire. As highlighted in a 2019 Construction News special report, the contractor suffered a number of catastrophic losses on its contracts in 2017 and 2018, which saw it fall into insolvency.
