Hyderabad: BJP leader flays iPhone proposal to Standing Committee

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader G Vivek Venkataswamy on Saturday termed iPhone proposal to Standing Committee members as ‘loot of state exchequer’.
The BJP leader told ANI, “I strongly condemn this action. K Chandrashekar Rao has been looting the state exchequer. The most corrupt state government in the country is the KCR-led state government.”
He added that the Standing Committee’s term is getting over next month. “When the term was there, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao preponed the elections with a view of trying to see that opposition parties do not get enough time to campaign and set right the candidates and wanted to stump them by preponing the elections,” he said.

Telangana registered 627 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to over 2.80 lakh while four related fatalities pushed the toll to 1,510.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 123, followed by Rangareddy 52 and Medchal Malkajgiri 48, a government bulletin said on Saturday providing details as of 8 pm on December 18.
As many as6,942 patients are under treatment and46,694 samples were tested on Friday.
Cumulatively, over 64 lakh samples have been tested.
The samples tested per million population was nearly 1.72 lakh, the bulletin said.
TRS in a quandary on bagging GHMC mayor post

Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has found itself in a tight spot, as it is just a few steps short in claiming the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) mayor post. TRS leaders from the city said that the party will not seek help from the All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), to avoid giving more ammunition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the GHMC elections, out of the total 150 wards, the TRS won 56, the BJP 48, AIMIM 44 and the Congress two. However, there are also 49 ex-officio members (MLAs, MPs and MLCs in the GHMC area), who also participate in the mayoral election. Within that, the TRS is reported to have 31 votes, the AIMIM 10, BJP 3 and the Congress 1. The mayoral election will be held in February.

Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar also sought fresh directions from the court to the state government that it cooperate fully in conducting the panchayat elections in February, 2021.

New Delhi: The Andhra Pradesh state election commissioner on Friday filed a contempt petition in the state high court alleging the YSR Congress government was not implementing the orders on the conduct of elections to gram panchayats.
SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar also sought fresh directions from the court to the state government that it cooperate fully in conducting the panchayat elections in February, 2021.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 18 (ANI): The newly-elected 48 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took an oath at the Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Charminar on Friday. The BJP State president of Telangana Bandi Sanjay and party MLA Raja Singh were present with the corporators who also paid their visit to the temple.
Sanjay said, During GHMC elections, many BJP leaders paid their visit to the Bhagyalakshmi temple and offered prayers. We promised (to the goddess) that once the GHMC elections are done, the BJP corporators who will win in the elections will all pay a visit to the temple and take oath in front of goddess Bhagyalakshmi. So, today along with all the 48 Corporators and MLA Raja Singh, we have offered our prayers to the goddess.
