HYDERABAD: Telangana on Sunday reported 4,976 fresh Covid-19 casestaking the tally to over 4.97 lakh while the toll stood at2,739 with 35 more casualties.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 851, followed by Rangareddy (417) and Medchal Malkajgiri (384), a government bulletin said.
The state has 65,757 active cases and over 55 thousand samples were tested.
The number of cumulative cases in the state stood at 4,97,361 while with 7,646 being cured, the total recoveries were at 4,28,865.
Cumulatively, over 1.36 crore samples have been tested.
The samples tested per million population was over 3.65 lakh, the bulletin said.

Khammam: Women corporators from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) and Khammam Municipal Corporation, continuing the tradition of electing women as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) (KMC).
Ponukollu Neeraja was elected as KMC Mayor from Division-26, while Shaik Fathima Zohara was elected as Deputy Mayor from Division-37.
The ruling party won the Mayor and Deputy Mayor positions of GWMC and KMC, as well as the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson posts of five municipalities – Siddipet, Jadcherla, Nakrekal, Atchampet, and Kothur – after winning a majority of seats in the civic polls held on April 30.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has covered over 1.80 lakh households as part of the ongoing door-to-door fever survey in the area.
As per the press release, 720 teams covered 53,002 homes on Friday, and survey teams referred 18,772 people with fever symptoms to Basthi Dawakhanas and Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) for Covid tests.
Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi held a summary meeting at the GHMC headquarters on Friday to track Covid containment measures. The Mayor ordered the entomology wing to begin intensive disinfectant spraying during the meeting.
She also urged people to get screened if they are experiencing symptoms and to take advantage of the free phone support. On Friday, the Control Room received 190 calls, with doctors and staff members answering questions about Covid-19.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 7 (ANI): Telangana registered 5,892 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. As many as 9,122 people recovered from the infection and 46 lost their lives over the last 24 hours, said the state health department on Friday.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 73,851.
Telangana has reported a total of 4,81,640 COVID positive cases since the onset of the pandemic last year. 4,05,164 have recovered from the infection and 2,625 people succumbed to the virus.
79.8 per cent of the cases are asymptomatic and 20.2 per cent cases in the state are symptomatic.
