2023: It’s Igbo presidency or nothing Ufomba

Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba, former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Abia, was one of the founders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Ufomba, who returned to the PDP in 2017, in this interview spoke on the politics of Abia, and how Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is turning the fortunes of the state around. He also spoke on the state of the nation, how to save the country and why the Igbo should produce the President in 2023.
How do you look at governance in Abia State between 1999 and today given poor infrastructure, especially roads?

When Democratic governance returned to Anambra State in 1999, the people celebrated. After years spent under repressive military juntas, democracy was a welcome relief. But the succour many thought will be ushered into the state remains: politicians plunder the State’s resources, institute retrogressive policies and borrow copiously from military strongmen’s playbook.
Given decades of neglect of infrastructure and bad governance, the shift in human migration has posed problems for the state. What looks like a factional crisis is brewing in the Ekiti State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), as some stakeholders have rejected the reelection of Mr. Ifeoluwa Iyaniwura, as the Chairman of the body.
At the election conducted at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, Iyaniwura polled a total of eight votes to defeat his rival and State Chairman, Action Alliance (AA), Mr. Lanre Anifowose, who garnered six votes.
The Chairman, IPAC Electoral Panel from Abuja, Mr. Obe Opunkun, declared Iyaniwura winner of the election that was supervised by INEC.
