COVID-19: Taylor County adds 10 cases, 15 recoveries Tuesday Six of the new cases were confirmed via polymerase chain reaction tests.  Active cases total 218 (123 PCR cases and 95 cases from antigen tests), the same as a week ago. A month ago, the number of active cases was 139.  COVID-19 inpatients at the Abilene hospitals total 13, which is three fewer than reported Monday. The average age of the patients is 60, and four live outside Taylor County. The percentage of COVID-19 inpatients in the Abilene trauma service area was 2.13% Monday, compared to 1.53% Sunday and 1.65% Saturday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 website.
