MADRID: Dorothy L. Prosper, 75, of Madrid and formerly Potsdam, passed away Thursday night (March 11, 2021) at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Dot was born January 19, 1946 in Potsdam, to the late E. Stanley and Pauline (Benson) Howlett. She graduated from Potsdam Central School in 1964 and continued her education in Watertown, NY, attending beauty school.
In 1964 she also fell in love with her companion for life John Prosper, and after a short courtship they were married in January of 1965. Shortly down the road they welcomed their first son John II (Elaine) of Chesapeake, Virginia, followed by twin boys Mark (Pendaley) of Suffolk, Virginia and Jeffrey (Sandra) of Norfolk, New York.
Six people injured Sunday in fiery Cayuga County crash

Sterling, N.Y Six people were injured Sunday in a fiery two-vehicle crash in the town of Sterling, Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies said.
None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening, deputies said, although one victim was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. The others were taken to Upstate by ambulance. The crash happened about 2:51 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of State Route 104 and State Barn Road, according to the office of Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
A 2009 Ford Flex SUV, driven by Pascall Luaboshi, 49, of Buffalo, was westbound on State Barn Road when it failed to yield the right of way on Route 104 and hit a 2005 Dodge Caravan heading east, deputies said.
Man stabbed at downtown Syracuse apartment building, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. One man was stabbed and another was charged with assault after an incident Sunday morning at a downtown apartment building.
Syracuse Police responded to a stabbing call about 5:11 a.m. Sunday at the Clinton Plaza Apartments, 550 S. Clinton St., according to Sgt. Matthew Malinowski.
They found Charles Moore, 36, who had been stabbed in the neck. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Malinowski said.
After investigating, police arrested Agustin Carrasquillo, 53, and charged him with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.

Auburn, N.Y. A man stands accused of trying to stab another man to death Saturday evening in Cayuga County.
Jeffrey P. Murray Jr., 22, of Sennett, has been charged with attempted murder. He was arrested about 9 hours after he attacked a man in Auburn, the Auburn Police Department said.
The assault happened shortly before 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Steel Street at Grover Street, police said. The victim a 28-year-old man was stabbed multiple times, police said.
