KALAMAZOO, MI A Galesburg man charged with first-degree arson in a Dec. 15 fire at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo died in jail two days after the incident, a Kalamazoo defense attorney confirmed.
Chase David Dalton Lovell, 29, was arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court on Wednesday, Dec. 16 on a charge of first-degree arson. Lovell, whose bond was set at $100,000, was found dead the following day in the county jail, Donna Innes, with Kalamazoo Defender, told MLive.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta last month ruled that ordinances banning conversion therapy violated the First Amendment.
The governments and groups have filed requests to submit briefs in support of Palm Beach County and Boca Raton, which sought a rehearing after a ruling by a federal appeals court panel.
Cities, counties and groups from Florida and other parts of the country are trying to help sway a federal appeals court to reconsider a potentially far-reaching decision that blocked bans on the controversial practice known as “conversion therapy.”
