OMAHA, Neb. (Purdue Sports) The Purdue volleyball program continued its record-setting awards season with five Boilermakers garnering Northeast All-Region honorees, the most in program history.
The accolades, announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and selected by member coaches, celebrate Hayley Bush, Grace Cleveland, Caitlyn Newton and Jena Otec as first team selections, while Taylor Trammell received Honorable Mention.

A group of four coaches associations representing women’s team sports is calling for an expanded scope into inequities between women’s and men’s sports at the NCAA and on campuses.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) are encouraging a thorough review that recognizes trends in participation and preferences among female student-athletes and embraces the expanding popularity of numerous women’s sports.

ROMEOVILLE, IL After capping off a 17-2 regular season with a back-to-back wins at Loyola last week, earning the program s second straight Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) title in the process, the nationally-ranked Lewis University men s volleyball team heads into this weekend s MIVA Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
The Flyers, who play at the NCAA Division I level and were ranked No. 2 in the most recent RPI rankings and No. 4 in the latest Coaches Poll, open up conference tournament play against No. 8 seed Quincy at 7 p.m. Saturday at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville.
Miami volleyball sweeps weekend set versus Virginia, improves to 3-1 in the spring
The Miami Hurricanes brought out the brooms for the second time in as many days to wrap up a two-match weekend set versus the Virginia Cavaliers Sunday afternoon. After splitting last weekend’s matches with a win over North Carolina State and a loss to Notre Dame, Miami’s rout over Virginia propelled them to an 8-4 overall record for the split season.
When the Canes returned to the floor on March 6 to take on NC State, they entered spring play with an impressive 5-3 overall record and eight conference matches under their belt dating back to last fall. With several conferences around the country opting out of play in the fall due to the pandemic, the Canes were forced to play an unusually small sample size of matches against conference rivals exclusively.
