Berkley public schools: Meet new superintendent Melissa Eakins-Ryan

BERKLEY Melissa Eakins-Ryan won t become the superintendent of the Berkley public schools until July 1. But she s already at work. On April 28, she started using the personal time she had banked in her current job as assistant superintendent in Bourne to gear up for her new job in Berkley. She s attended administrative meetings and discussions on the district s new school building program (necessary reconstruction work at the Berkley Community School). She s more than appreciative of having this extra preparation time with retiring school superintendent Thomas Lynch.  He has been very gracious to let me spend this time here, she said.  I ve appreciated the time to ask questions and understand what this district is all about. Not every district superintendent candidate can do that. Thomas Lynch has been very inclusive and lets me participate.
