Hundreds of artisans, craftsmen to showcase products at Hunar Haat starting from Feb 20 NEW DELHI : The Ministry of Minority Affairs will organise the 26th edition of ‘Hunar Haat’ that will bring together indigenous artisans and craftsmen from across the country at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here from February 20 to March 1. Its theme will be ‘vocal for local’ and more than 600 artisans and craftsmen, including a large number of woman artisans, from more than 31 states and UTs will participate in this, an official statement said. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the event on February 21. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the event will be a perfect platform to promote indigenous products of artisans and craftsmen from across the country, and asserted that this has provided employment opportunities to more than five lakh artisans, craftsmen and artists yet.

Supreme Court Notice to Centre After Petition Asks to Define Minority Plea challenged legality of section 2(C) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, which allows Centre to declare any community minority.   |  10 Feb 2021 1:00 PM GMT NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, has issued a notice to the Centre after hearing a petition filed by lawyer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, seeking the court`s order to define the term minority and issue necessary guidelines for its definition. A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde and comprising Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian issued the notice to the Centre.
