The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic now sits at 12,787. The seven-day rolling total of cases has now dropped well below 1,000 cases, having been above that figure since the start of the year, up to this week. There were 897 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to January 30. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

It has been a day of mixed results in Cornwall, which has seen another rise in deaths involving hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 - but later a huge drop in the number of new cases being recorded. There have been seven further deaths across the Duchy s hospitals, with three at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, bringing its total to 144, and four at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust, bringing its total to 46. The most recent death was recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust yesterday (February 1) and reported in today s update from NHS England. There has now been a total of 190 deaths in Cornwall s hospitals since the start of the pandemic, with at least one taking place in a Cornish hospital every day since January 6, up until yesterday.
There has been a further rise in deaths at Cornwall s hospitals involving patients testing positive for Covid-19. It s as figures show there has been at least one death in a Cornish hospital every day since January 6, up to Wednesday this week. The two further deaths have taken place at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, bringing its total to 140, while the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust has seen 42 deaths. It follows 11 deaths being reported in yesterday s NHS England update alone, which took place earlier this week, with a total off 22 deaths being reported since Tuesday. There has now been a total of 182 deaths in Cornwall s hospitals since the start of the pandemic.
A further two hospital deaths have been recorded in today s update (Wednesday, January 27). It brings the total number of deaths relating to the virus at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust to 129, and to 40 at the Cornwall Partnerships NHS Trust. The total number of deaths relating to the virus in Cornwall s hospitals is now 169. It follows seven people confirmed to have died at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust in yesterday s update (Tuesday). It means 35 Covid-related deaths in Cornwall s hospitals have been reported since last Wednesday (January 20). Eight deaths were confirmed in Sunday s update, with five on the preceding Friday, three on Thursday and ten on Wednesday, across Cornwall s two hospital trusts.
