When we consider the kidnap of hundreds of students at Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, penultimate week, we begin to see that many things did not add up well. There were many loose ends, which have made us begin to think twice about the whole issue.
First, President Muhammadu Buhari arrived his home state, Katsina, on a holiday. The same day he arrived, bandits stormed the Kankara school in the same Katsina State and took away hundreds of boys. They travelled hundreds of kilometers on foot with the boys, and nobody noticed the movement, even with high security beef up in Katsina State following the President s presence there.

The Police and the military on Sunday narrated how 80 pupils of Hizburrahim Islamiyya School in Mahuta village of Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, who were abducted by bandits on Saturday, were rescued, saying they achieved the feat after a gunfight.
The Islamic pupils were said to have been abducted while returning from Maulud celebration at Alkasim village of the local government area on Saturday night.
The abduction came barely a week after another group of bandits kidnapped 344 pupils of Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State on a day President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Daura, his hometown in the state, on a week-long private visit.

For Yusuf Suleiman, Friday, December 11, 2020, was like every other day for a typical secondary school student. Suleimanâs dream has always been to continue with his secondary school education. That dream was on course until that fateful day when about 10pm, an incident almost derailed it.

The 17-year-old Suleiman was among the 344 students abducted by armed bandits from Government Science Secondary School Kankara, in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State that fateful night immediately after their night prep.
Banditry: Nigerian Army extends Ex Sahel Sanity to March

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has announced the extension of Exercise Sahel Sanity to March 2021 to completely knock out bandits from the North West.
Exercise Sahel Sanity is a realtime military operation inaugurated by Buratai in July to decisively deal with the menace of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other criminal activities in Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto States.
Buratai disclosed this while briefing newsmen during operational visit to the Special Army Super Camp 1V Faskari in Katsina State on Monday.
He said that Nigerian Army had been able to stabilise the security situation in the North West since the commencement of Ex Sahel Sanity in July.
