A total of 23,298 people remain in quarantine. Ernakulam’s active case load is 10,107. As many as 10,933 samples were sent for testing on Friday.
While 8,260 people are recovering at home, 70 patients are admitted at the Government Medical College Hospital, 21 at Fort Kochi Taluk Hospital and 69 patients are at PVS Hospital.

Contributions sought for construction of skywalk at MCH
Health Minister K.K. Shylaja will open various development projects at the Government General Hospital and the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode, on February 12.
A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, told the media on Wednesday that the general hospital, ‘beach hospital’ in local parlance, would have post-operative wards for men and women as well as a cath lab and cath intensive care unit. They will have 33 beds. Reading corners will be set up for bystanders, and music will be played to keep their boredom away.

Ernakulam recorded 714 new COVID-19 cases and 802 recoveries on Friday, leaving an active case load of 10,434.
Testing saw a boost in the district with 9,028 samples being sent on the day.
Four health workers were among those who tested positive on Friday. Nedumbassery recorded 24 new cases, 20 people were infected in Chengamanad, and 19 each in Kalamassery and Thripunithura. The source of infection of 22 people could not be traced.
Over 24,400 people remain in quarantine.
Of the people recovering from the infection, 8,384 are at home, 48 patients are at the Government Medical College Hospital, 75 at PVS Hospital, and 22 are at the Fort Kochi Taluk Hospital. A total of 707 patients are being treated at private hospitals.
