Kottuvally recorded a spike with 52 new cases. Kizhakkambalam registered 34 cases, Manjapra 30, and Thrikkakara 27. Five health workers and a police officer have also been infected. The source of infection of 80 people could not be traced. With 1,038 recoveries on Saturday, the active case load is 11,129. Of the people recovering from the infection here, 8,555 are at home, 49 are at the Government Medical College Hospital, 73 at PVS Hospital and 758 at private hospitals. Vaccination drive: Health dept to finish first phase by Feb 12

Around 4,000 health workers given jab so far in Kozhikode The Health Department hopes to conclude the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive in Kozhikode district by February 12. A week after the launch of the drive on January 16, around 4,000 health workers have been vaccinated here so far. Vaccination district-level nodal officer T. Mohandas told The Hindu that 100 people were given the jab at the centre attached to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, on Saturday. The drive had been held on last Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as well. He said that more vaccination centres would be added in the coming days. According to sources, they would be at the MCH, Baby Memorial Hospital, Malabar Medical College, Meitra Hospital, and IQRAA Hospital.

Govt nod for ₹290-crore project for medical college hospital

Updated: Share Article AAA The State government has given administrative approval for the first phase of the master plan aimed at taking up development work to make the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, a centre of excellence. The estimated cost of the project is ₹290 crore. As per the plan, all outpatient wards will be shifted to a new building near Indian Coffee House restaurant, sources said. The proposal will now be presented at a high-level meeting of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) to be held this month, for approval. Once the plan gets KIIFB nod and funds are allocated, construction work will begin.
