11 centres identified for immunisation drive in Kozhikode district
A total of 33,285 healthcare workers are expected to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Kozhikode district in the first phase which will begin on January 16.
It is learnt that 11 centres have been identified for the vaccination drive. They are: Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, Government General Hospital, Government Ayurveda Hospital, ESI Hospital, Feroke, Community Health Centre, Mukkom and Narikkuni, taluk hospitals in Koyilandy, Nadapuram, and Perambra, Family Health Centre, Panangad, and Aster MIMS Hospital, Kozhikode.

Ernakulam recorded 443 new COVID-19 cases and 485 recoveries on Monday. For testing, 4,406 samples were sent.
Kalamassery registered 20 new cases of the infection, Kothamanagalam 19, Kuttampuzha 17, and Perumbavoor 15 cases. Seven health workers tested positive on the day.
While 20,714 people remain in quarantine, the district’s active case load is 8,941.
Of those who are recovering from the infection, 7,171 people are at home. At the Government Medical College Hospital, 50 people are admitted, while 67 patients are at PVS Hospital, 18 are the Fort Kochi Taluk Hospital, 17 are at the Muvattupuzha General Hospital and 11 at the Paravur Taluk Hospital. As many as 237 people are being monitored at first-line treatment centres, while 294 people are at second-line treatment centres.

The districts in the central region on Sunday recorded a significant drop in COVID-19 cases with a total of 67 patients testing positive as against 92 cases on Saturday. Two deaths, both in Thanjavur, were reported.
A 72-year-old man who had been suffering from diabetes, and a 57-year-old woman with a history of coronary artery disease died at the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
Tiruchi reported 20 fresh cases, while Thanjavur accounted for 16 patients. Most patients who tested positive were local index cases, asymptomatic patients and their contacts. Two patients who had been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at the Tiruchi Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital were discharged after recovering from the viral infection.
Vaccine likely to be dispatched from Chennai on January 13 As many as twelve centres have been identified in the district to administer the vaccine for COVID-19 in the first phase of inoculation for all staff associated with healthcare facilities, anganwadi workers and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA).
Nine government hospitals and three private ones will administer the vaccine in the first phase. These are the Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam General Hospital, Piravom Taluk Hospital, Chengamanad Community Health Centre, Kuttampuzha Family Health Centre, Chellanam Primary Health Centre, Thammanam Urban Primary Health Centre, District Homoeopathic Hospital and District Ayurveda Hospital. Aster Medcity, Mar Baselios Medical Mission and MOSC Medical College are the private hospitals identified for the purpose. Private hospitals where more than 75 health workers have registered were selected.
