OSI Headquarters welcomes CMSAF Bass > Air Force Reserve Command > News

“OSI plays an integral role in restoring our readiness. What this command does for us ensures the Air Force is always ready to go,” Bass emphasized. “The amount and type of work they do allows us to be successful around the world.” Bass underscored why all Airmen should understand how important OSI is to their Air Force. “If there’s one theme I want every Airman to know, it’s that Air Force OSI plays a huge role in helping keep all of us safe on many fronts,” she said. “They keep us honest with all their criminal dealings, their role of investigating sexual assaults and in the area of fraud, they save money.”

Army investigators short on tangible improvements in wake of Fort Hood report

By ROSE L. THAYER | STARS AND STRIPES Published: March 16, 2021 Officials for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command offered few examples to Congress on Tuesday about improvements to their operations more than three months after a report focused on Fort Hood, Texas, found the agency to be understaffed, under-resourced and unable to pursue some cases properly. Maj. Gen. Donna Martin, the Army’s provost marshal general and commander of CID, described an ongoing “bottom up review” of the agency following the December release of the Fort Hood Independent Review Committee’s report. The civilian committee, many of whom had investigative or military experience, provided 70 recommendations to improve conditions at the base, with about a dozen of those related specifically to CID. Proposals included improving staffing and resources at the base, leveling the ratio of new and experienced agents, and building better relationships with the surrounding civilian communities.

Spc Vanessa Guillen case could be Army CID s Tailhook scandal

(Carolyn Kaster/AP) Army Criminal Investigation Command’s ongoing problems may justify an overhaul of its command structure, similar to what the Naval Criminal Investigative Service went through following a major sexual assault scandal in the 1990s. How NCIS changed in the wake of that scandal was discussed during congressional testimony Tuesday. The hearing was held one week after proposals to redesign CID were outlined in briefing documents obtained by Army Times. One proposal suggested recasting CID as an independent organization with civilian leadership, similar to what NCIS looks like today. A second proposal, which was labeled “recommended” in the documents, would retain the current military police leadership while hiring more civilian agents.
