With a new support and operational structure, the Douglass Leadership House will become the University s first living-learning community, designed to allow members of the house to offer academic, social, and housing options through partnerships with several University curricular and cocurricular units. The house will become a “living-learning community” with an umbrella of support across the College and institution-wide units, including the Frederick Douglass Institute.
Operational changes and physical improvements are coming to the University of Rochester’s Douglass Leadership House.
Jeffrey Runner, dean of the College, says these formalized partnerships will provide a stronger, more effective infrastructure for the house and its program.

At the time of writing, UR’s Students’ Association (SA) election results have yet to be announced, not that it matters: Outside of 2024 Class Council and the Presidential ticket, all positions are uncontested.
Normally, SA does and can do very little. Despite the lofty presidential platforms we skim every year, SA’s successes are usually very small, or things that maybe would have happened without SA’s involvement.

For months, protestors have been calling for Mayor Lovely Warren to be replaced, and Rochester City Council Member and UR alum Malik Evans ’02 is her main competitor.
Evans grew up in Rochester, attending Wilson Magnet High School. At a young age, he became involved in community programs and helped found the City-County Youth Council, now called the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. In talking about his campaign, Evans said that youth development is the under-discussed issue he is most interested in.
