(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is 80 years old, announced today that she plans to receive the COVID-19 vaccine “in the next few days.”
“According to government continuity guidelines, Congressional Leadership has been informed by the Office of the Attending Physician that Members of the House and Senate are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine,” said Pelosi.
“The Attending Physician further stated to Members ‘My recommendation to you is absolutely unequivocal: there is no reason why you should defer receiving this vaccine,’” said Pelosi.

Both of Connecticut s senators announced this weekend that they received the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.
Rep. Richard Blumenthal said on Twitter that he has looked to public health officials to inform him of his decisions since the pandemic begin. That s why, when the Capitol Attending Physician made the vaccine available and my doctor recommended it, I get it, Blumenthal says. I rolled up my sleeve right away. I trust this vaccine is safe and effective.
Rep. Christopher Murphy also took to Twitter, saying that the vaccine is safe, effective and it s going to save lives.

Less than a week from when the first Americans began receiving the Pfizer vaccine for coronavirus, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) got her first of two doses at the capitol.
She posted about the incident on social media on Sunday, saying the Office of the Attending Physician recommended she get vaccinated. I encourage all Iowans and Americans to do the same when their time comes, wrote Ernst. Thanks to Operation Warp Speed and the tireless work of Americans across the country, we are one step closer to defeating this virus.
Ernst was criticized earlier this year for her comments regarding health care workers and the virus, implying they were inflating coronavirus totals. She privately apologized to the Iowa Medical Society.
