Austin police announces new critical incident public release policy

Austin police announces new critical incident public release policy By FOX 7 Austin Digital Team Published  This includes body-worn cameras and digital in-car video footage.  The goal is to publicly release any footage of a critical incident in a timely manner utilizing a streamlined process, according to a press release from the police department.  During this process, the Chief of Police will consult with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Police Oversight to determine what information and video footage may be released. If the Chief of Police determines a release will not occur, or a delay of the release is necessary, the department will send a statement notifying the public of the release status and reason for the delay.
