Chilling Footage Shows New Mexico Officer’s Shooting Death During Traffic Stop
A video released online shows the moment a police officer in New Mexico was shot and killed during a traffic stop.
According to the New Mexico State Police in a news release, Officer Darian Jarrott initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup on Interstate 10 on Feb. 4. The driver, identified later as 39-year-old Omar Felix Cueva, was asked to exit the vehicle.
When he exited the truck, Cueva, according to the video footage, was holding a small rifle. He then fired several shots at Jarrott as he was walking around the rear of the vehicle, officials said.

LUNA COUNTY – New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Ofc. Darian Jarrott initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup Feb. 4, on Interstate 10 eastbound, near mile marker 102 east of Deming.
During the traffic stop, Ofc. Jarrott asked the driver, identified as Omar Felix Cueva, 39, of Deming to exit the vehicle.
Cueva exited the driver’s side holding an AR-15 style rifle and fired at least one shot at Ofc. Jarrott as he was walking to the rear of the vehicle. Ofc. Jarrott ducked and fell onto his back as Cueva ran around the back of the pickup toward Ofc. Jarrott.

Colfax County, NM– On April 7, 2021 at approximately 7:24 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal head-on crash on U.S. Highway 56 near milepost 14, east of Springer, NM.
The initial investigation indicated a 2020 Honda Pilot SUV, driven by Joseph A. McCreight (27) of El Mirage, AZ was traveling west on U.S. Highway 56. For unknown reasons the Honda crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic of the eastbound lane and collided head-on into an eastbound 2014 Freightliner Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). The driver of the CMV, a 60-year-old male from Maxwell, NM sustained unknown injuries in the crash and was transported by emergency personnel to an area hospital. The driver, McCreight and a passenger in the Honda, Vincent M. Vega (33) from Phoenix, AZ, both sustained fatal injuries in the crash and they were both pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.
