Bahrain s participation in Expo Dubai highlighted | THE DAILY TRIBUNE

www.newsofbahrain.com The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) held a press conference today to announce the latest developments in the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Expo 2020 Dubai. Present at the event were Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of BACA and the Commissioner General of the Bahrain Pavilion at the Expo, Tala Fakhro, Chief Project Officer at the Economic Development Board (EDB), Noura Al-Sayeh, Head of Engineering Projects at BACA, and fashion designer Hala Kaiksow. The self-built national pavilion for the Expo showcases the concept of ‘density’ and its role in providing opportunities. Bearing the slogan “Density Weaves Opportunities,” the pavilion showcases the features of Bahrain’s natural and urban structural fabric.

Designers are being urged by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) to collaborate with local artisans to help create more ‘Made in Bahrain’ products, writes Mai Al-Khatib-Camille. There are also plans to host workshops for art lovers to join in the fun once it is safe to do so, post the pandemic. The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) has launched a new initiative aimed at promoting unique crafts and artisans in the kingdom with the aim of highlighting locally-made products and their heritage. The social media drive is set to make stars of the artisans who are keeping Bahraini traditions alive . with plans to make them tutors for the community in the future. “The page will not only shed light on the different crafts but highlight the individual craftsmen and artisans – so you know who has made the item you are buying and how,” said Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Baca’s director-general of arts and culture.
