Saratoga County records 17 coronavirus deaths in one weekend - its largest jump yet
Unusual spike was result of data reconciliation that led to discovery of previously unreported nursing home deaths

Saratoga County is reporting 17 deaths from COVID-19 among its residents since Friday the most fatalities the county has recorded in a three-day period since the pandemic began.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy announced another 283 new coronavirus cases reported in Albany County. That includes 235 with no clear source of infection.
There are currently 163 people in the hospital.
Sadly, another person has died. McCoy says it was a man in his 90s.

Nine more residents are dead in Albany County because of the coronavirus, but four of those deaths occurred at a nursing home between Dec. 12 and Jan. 3 and are only being reported now because the county just found out about them, County Executive Dan McCoy said.
“You’d hope after 10 months, we’d have the system down pat. You would think that we would have the nursing homes reporting to us,” McCoy said. “We have to talk to our county coroners, too, because they should be updating us also.”
