Britain reported 1,979 new cases of coronavirus on Monday and five deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test.

Allegheny has become the second county in Pennsylvania to surpass 100,000 cases of coronavirus. In its covid-19 report released Saturday, the Allegheny County Health Department reported 186 new cases of the virus. That brings the county’s total since the pandemic began to 100,039. Only Philadelphia, with 146,238 cases, has more.

Updated: 4:13 PM EDT May 11, 2021 A COVID-19 vaccine clinic is being held at the UPMC Events Center on the Robert Morris University campus this week.The Pfizer vaccine will be offered at the clinic, which is being held with the Allegheny County Health Department. Anyone age 16 and older can get vaccinated.For more information and to register, go to rmu.edu/vaccine. RMU says walk-ins are also welcome.The university said everyone who receives the vaccine will get a free t-shirt, a certificate for a free bucket of balls at RMU Island Sports Center and a chance to win season tickets for basketball and football.

Pennsylvania’s covid-19 case total grew by 2,179 to hit 1,179,251 since the pandemic began in March 2020. Philadelphia had the most newly reported cases in the state with 296, followed by Allegheny (183), Bucks (131), Montgomery (130) and Lancaster (97).
Deaths
The state added 52 deaths to its total Wednesday, bringing it to 26,659. Of those newly reported deaths, 44 are from May and eight are from April.
The Allegheny County Health Department reported four deaths to bring its total to 1,912. The deaths ranged from April 30 to May 10, with one person in their 60s, two in their 70s and one in their 90s. The state health department also reported four additional deaths in Allegheny County, with its total reaching 1,931. The discrepancy between the two health departments hasn’t fully been explained.
