Penn Hills Elementary School will close its campus a week after to reopening to students because four people associated with the school tested positive for covid-19, district officials said Sunday.
The Allegheny County Health Department advised the school to switch to all-virtual learning for at least a week, according to an “urgent” update posted online by Penn Hills School District Superintendent Nancy Hines.
Officials did not say whether the people infected with covid were students, teachers or other affiliates or staff members.

PITTSBURGH, PA The Allegheny County Health Department on Thursday reported 10 new coronavirus deaths, pushing the total since the outbreak began last March to 1,067 - up from 1,057 on Wednesday.
There were 664 confirmed and probable new coronavirus cases. There have been 58,371 cases since the outbreak began, up from 57,708 on Wednesday.
The 448 confirmed cases came from 1,541 new tests - a positivity rate of 29 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 15 percent, state officials said.

There have been 3,315 hospitalizations during the outbreak.
With 20,724 cases in Westmoreland County, 10,212 in Butler County, 9,774 in Washington County and 9,069 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 108,150 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That s up from 106,567 on Wednesday.

PITTSBURGH, PA The Allegheny County Health Department on Wednesday reported 46 new coronavirus deaths, pushing the total since the outbreak began last March to 1,957 - up from 1,011 on Tuesday.
The county on Wednesday reported 881 confirmed and probable new coronavirus cases. There have been 57,708 cases since the outbreak began, up from 56,827 on Tuesday.
The 524 confirmed cases came from 1,830 new tests - a positivity rate of 28 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 15.8 percent, state officials said.
