QUINTE WEST â The Front Street Farmersâ Market will be open for the season next Saturday, May 8, at 8 a.m. New and returning vendors have been preparing their products and are ready to set up their booths. The Farmersâ Market features various local growers, bakers and makers with fresh, unique and delicious products.
This year, the market will look a little different as a mask mandate will be in place. Visitors and vendors will be asked to please wear their masks at all times while in attendance, and maintain their physical distance. This complies with the protocols put into place by Hastings Prince Edward Public Health.
OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health reported more than 200 new COVID-19 cases in Ottawa on Friday, a day after the city reported its lowest new case count in weeks. The health unit is reporting 206 new coronavirus cases in Ottawa on Friday. On Thursday, Ottawa Public Health recorded 118 new cases, the lowest such number since April 1. The city s daily case counts continue to oscillate above and below 200 as the health care system battles a punishing third wave of the virus, and with Ontario s stay-at-home order now more than three weeks old. However, the overall trends are going in the right direction. The city s weekly incidence rate is 128 cases per 100,000 people, OPH reported on Friday. This time last week, it was 170 per 100,000.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting that more people are in hospital with COVID-19.
Staff say there are now 20 patients being treated, with 7 in hospital, and four on a ventilator.
Across the region, a total of 13 new COVID-19 cases were reported today. There are now a total of 84 active cases.
Five of the new cases listed today are related to outbreaks, while four others are close contacts.

The novel coronavirus still has the upper hand on Ontario, provincial and local officials said Thursday, but reasons for hope are emerging.
Ontario’s COVID-19 cases are decreasing as the province remains under a stay-at-home order, but the government’s science advisers said further limits on essential workplaces are needed to control the spread of the virus.
