A single new case of COVID-19 and another recovery were the only changes Friday in Hastings and Prince Edward County’s pandemic status.
While the novel coronavirus activity in the region remained very low, public health officials across the country continued to advise caution as politicians spoke increasingly of reopening provinces.

Health officials were also monitoring the growing spread of variants of the virus.
The new local case – the region’s 369
th since the pandemic began – was due to close contact with an infected person, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported.

Hastings-Prince Edward’s local count of active COVID-19 infections on Thursday remained at three, with no new cases reported.
There were no new recoveries, either. In total, there had been 368 local infections, 360 recoveries, and five deaths linked to the virus, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported in an update of its pandemic dashboard page.

The wait for more vaccine continued, with the total of 1,096 people vaccinated by public health workers and partner agencies unchanged.
