Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has issued an update about remote learning, as all students get ready to return from April break.
The province announced the move to suspend in-person classes due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in the third wave.
The local school board says that parents and guardians of students who have been doing in-person learning up until this point, will find out more from teachers next week.
Families who require some assistance with finding a computer, should contact their child’s school Monday to make arrangements.
Sean Monteith, the Director of Education with HPEDSB, notes that all special education students in the board will remain at home and learn remotely as well.

The Quinte region has broke another pandemic record, in the first day of the third province-wide shutdown.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 22 new COVID-19 cases today. That brings the total of active cases to 107, a number that has not been seen since the start of the pandemic.
Staff note that three people are now in hospital, with two in ICU.
A total of four outbreaks have been identified:
1 case connected to a workplace in Quinte West
3 cases connected to a workplace in Trenton
5 cases connected to a workplace in Belleville.
4 cases connected to a school/child care facility. Health unit has not identified the specific place.

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health announced yesterday that a person who visited The Duke Pub in Belleville yesterday has tested positive for COVID-19. Customers who visited in the afternoon and evening of Friday, April 2 are considered high-risk contacts are being asked to get tested and self-isolate. Individuals who visited the Duke Pub between Tuesday, March 30 – and Thursday, April 1 are encouraged to seek testing for COVID-19 immediately, even if asymptomatic.
