With Governor Greg Abbott s order which ends the statewide mask mandate and opens up businesses to 100% capacity in Texas set to go into effect on Wednesday, City of Laredo leaders continue to prepare for the worst should the order lead to a surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
As has been the viewpoint since Abbot s announcement last week, city leaders continue to advocate that citizens continue practicing CDC guidelines, which have proved an effective deterrent against the spread of the virus thus far.

TAMPA, Fla. â When it comes to grading the vaccination process in Hillsborough County, Nicole Leonick gives it an A.
âIt was so quick. Normally, I hate getting shots. But it was just so quick and easy. I was like wait, we re done? Weâre good? Ok, she said.
Leonick has been teaching second and third graders from Booker T. Washington Elementary online from her home. But she says after she gets the second shot, sheâll be ready to return to the classroom.

Following the loss of Mike Cochran to the city of Craig’s police department as interim chief of police, the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office appointed Sgt. Todd Wheeler as the new Emergency Management Coordinator in early March.
Wheeler slides over into his new role as EMC for the Sheriff’s Office from the patrol division. Wheeler first started with the Sheriff’s Office on July 1, 2001.
“The entire goal of filling the position of Emergency Management Coordinator was to not lose any of the momentum we’ve realized over the last year with Mike Cochran in that position,” Sheriff KC Hume said. “I think Todd will pick up and continue to do a phenomenal job serving the Moffat County community through the Sheriff’s Office.”

POST, Texas (KCBD) - Water was restored to the City of Post on Friday, now the Emergency Management Coordinator for Garza County said Tuesday the boil water notice has been lifted.
Resident no longer need to boil water used for drinking, cooking and making ice. Water quality testing submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has confirmed that tap water meets all regulatory standards and is safe for human consumption.
